OMRL advertising

Postby nathanpeselnick » Fri Feb 21, 2014 4:29 pm

I've pondered this idea and would like to know what everyone thinks:

I think that this league is mostly word of mouth and since I believe everyone would like to see a bigger turnout, maybe some flyers would be a good way to get the word out...

In a nutshell, I was considering making a rough draft of a flyer in Microsoft publisher, with little tear-off leaflets at the bottom edge containing the web address and/or contact information, with some pictures and a little info above. I think that these could be posted at places like Iron Pony or motorcycle dealerships around central Ohio.

If I made a rough draft of the flyer in Microsoft publisher, would anyone be willing to put the final touches/revisions on the publication? I am no English major.

Great way to get them out in each of our communities and various hot spots.

I agree there has got to be some way to approach new grom buyers to grow that class to. like maybe at dealerships. there also seems to be a large number of guys racing indoor pit bikes...maybe they would do gp in the summer?

JB and I have talked about this on the long rides home, but the two of us would be willing to set up a booth at Quaker Steak bike night (if the cost isn't prohibitive).

We could bring bikes, a canopy, an OMRL banner, and put some video of the races on loop on a small monitor. No sweat.

Not sure how big bike nights are elsewhere, but Valley View QS&L averages something silly like 7,000 bikes a week.

the only change I would make would be to play up the low costs of the entry fees, AND of the bikes. Mine was $450... I probably have $500 of parts into it by now, but I had the 16" wheel and ML45's mounted for under $600 for sure...

Cost is what keeps a lot of people OUT of racing, and what attracted me to mini racing. I'd list the first race price as "ONLY $25!" and leave off the PIRC pricing all together, or put an asterisk and have a disclaimer at the bottom of the page that non CRP events are likely to be priced higher.

But the overall presentation is great.

I have put a call into our local Quaker Steak and Lube to see what is involved with getting a table.

Nate, I know you mentioned that you do video editing ect. Lets think of some ways we can capture some more race footage from the track. We have quite a few guys running GoPro cameras on the bikes.. but lets try and get some more spectator view footage for this year. Maybe by mid year we would have enough footage for a decent montage that would cover on and off bike footage! We can get some footage of registration, tech inspection, riders meeting ect. Show some prospective members what goes on during a race day!

I have a DSLR that I brought a few times to the track last year.. I can bring it again if I can get some volunteers to snap photos (Racers, friends, wives, pit crew ect).

I can get us a large banner made for cheap. Sewn and grommets added for use at a 'fair' or any other event.

Someone draw up the art and let me know how big we want it.

I know these are like $3, but I already have a grommet kit that I used on the Anderson Door Racing banner.

That's up for anyone's use. I can't foresee myself using 50 grommets in my lifetime.

I too am willing to put my camera to use for track pictures if needed. Its probably nothing compared to your DSLR but it does the 'machine gun' photo thing, good for things in motion. Its a Sony DSC-H3

This is great guys! Nathan I think we need to get together to put some finishing touches on the flyer.

After that I will need everyones help to distribute the flyers across your area. Together we can cover the largest cities in the state of Ohio!

Good stuff! I'll see if I can get ahold of someone at Quaker at Polaris to see if we can setup there! Maybe put on the flyer that their first race entry is free! One time and they will be hooked!
