Yeah, you're too smart for me. I was just copying what Bill said and I have no idea what I'm talking about.....

You are right Steve, but it is me not Matt that is slow in reply.
It often takes me a half hour to post. And yes, our posts crossed in the intertubes. I was editing mine as Matt posted.

Sorry Matt, It's a tough crowd. At least we answered the question. 8)

I think slowly and type fast. Bill thinks fast and types slow.

No problem, Bill. Like you said, at least we answered the question.

I think it is the dialup that is holding bill's posting speed back. I had forgotten aobut that.

And yes, sounds like you guys answered the question, and I learned something in the process.

Yes - exhaust bridge. Needs relieved for heat.
Wiseco did the same procedure for my CR500 cylinders.
Little late on the draw -- looks like you've got it covered.
A good book too:

Millenium was very appologetic and had it sent back at cost to them. I should be getting it back in the next day or two.

Nope, just that "it should never have gotten past QC like that. They included a shirt and stickers when I got it back this time.

Cylinder looks great, measured it and the spec was exactly what it was supposed to be: 44.50mm

Broke it in and was riding on saturday. The bike was still breaking up in high RPM. Looks like everyone missed the cause, the spark plug was a little too worn. Threw in a new one Marc had and it worked flawlessly.

Well, right on! Gotta love it when the fix is the cheapest part of the entire bike!

(note to self: keep extra spark plugs handy)

Pretty standard to install a new plug when doing any trouble shooting, and certainly when you rebuild the top end

That's odd, you were the third person to post in this thread and I didn't see you mention anything about trying a new plug on for size. Miraculously his crank/rod seems to be holding up just fine, though

Just be happy for the guy. His bike is back in action and he can race again. No harm no foul.

I never put a brand new plug in for break in... I always get a couple heat cycles on it then put the new plug in.

HMMMMMMMMMMM everyone I know that rebuilds 2S motors uses a "basic" new NGK plug for heat cycles then installs a New high end plug of their choice..... Plug inspection between each heat cycle if possible...... certainly after the motor is back together...... I mean thats part of building and maintaining a race bike right?

BEDIT: (Jordan) your killing me, I would ASSUME one would try a new plug if the bike was running poorly. Like the other month...... when that does nothing look further into the problem..... carb......... seals.......... spark.......... oh gee it needed a new top end?

Chill, I have never had a 2-stroke before so I asked on here as there are people more knowledgable than I about this subject.

Yeah more to that story... I had clear liquid come out my nose when I bent over to look at the bike, and still had that headache. I didn't think much of it but told the GF about it (a doctor) and she started freaking...I guess headache+hit to the head+clear fluid = good chance of a skull fracture so I went in for a CAT scan. There didn't find anything but it scared the GF pretty good.

Yep... clear fluid and a head-ache are signs of a possible skull fracture! Also, bruising around the eyes is also...? If I remember from my medical training.. I need a refresher on that stuff!!!
WOW, didn't know you crashed last weekend and that your GF is a Doc!
